Vera Dowdell Award Starting at the November 2008 Annual Meeting there will be an annual "Vera Dowdell Award" given to a deserving Special Olympics athlete. This award was established in honor of Vera Dowdell, our past board president who is a charter member of Arc and has been involved with Arc and on the board since its inception 40 years ago. The criteria, eligibility and nomination process for this award is still being worked on by the Arc Board of Directors. Vera has asked that this award be given to a Special Olympics athlete, and the athlete will be honored at our annual meeting each November with a plaque and cash award. Details will be announced as they are established. The Board of Directors will also be planning an annual euchre tournament in Vera's honor to help raise money to fund this award.
