Mission and Vision Statement
Mission Statement
The ARC of Columbia County shall exist to work for the well-being of all persons with developmental and related disabilities, regardless of race, creed or color, by promoting quality of life through the advocacy for education of people with disabilities, improvement of and maintenance of social development opportunities, and increasing public awareness.
Vision Statement
Where individuals of Columbia County can prosper with opportunities and acceptance for all to be employed, to be engaged citizens, to live in the most integrated and appropriate environment, to receive good education/training, and to receive ongoing support with full community inclusion.
Who Is the ARC
The ARC is people with devleopmental and other related disabilities, parents and other family members, friends of people with disabilities, and professionals who work with them. The ARC in Columbia County is a grass roots non-profit organization formed in 1966 by a small group of parents and other concerned individuals. We are one of 1,200 state and local chapters across the nation.
What We Do
We work to improve education, living environments, social and recreational activities, with full community inclusion through acceptance and awareness. We work to prevent retardation, develop high quality services and to support people and their families who are developmentally disabled.
